Firstly, I haven't really played Rit all that much. I just want to know whether a mesmer/ritualist would be at all useful for PvE, and if a Rit/Mes would be better instead. Can anyone answer this for me?

BTW, I want to be an offensive "ritualist" who doesn't really use mesmer spells, except maybe the inspiration and/or the fast casting line (w/ communing, channeling, and SpawnP)

Remember that Fast Casting does not affect binding rituals, if your not going to use the mainstay of the mesmer skills, then you'll be better off with a Rt/Me

I think that a fast cast channeling spike could be pretty effective. But Tainek is correct with the binding rits, those aren't going to speed up. Stick to channeling skills and you will probably have decent results.

I don't know about PvE, but I use a Me/Rt in Alliance Battles. It's not only a viable build, but I've gone toe to toe against touch rangers one on one with it and come out the winner.

The channeling line is lack-luster at the moment. Fast Cast won't do much for the spike skills of Ancestors and Gaze so running FC seems useless. Rt/Me will get more damage in and with echo (no points required) it will be more effective. I don't see much advantage to running a FC Channel Rit, now for a restoration rit this won't be true but FC isn't needed in channeling.
